Pediatric health care providers are very concerned about the rise in childhood obesity but this sensitive and very personal issue can be difficult to address. OU Children’s Physicians has developed tools to help pediatric healthcare providers gather information about patient lifestyles, counsel kids and their parents on growth and risk for obesity-related chronic disease. These tools are also used educate them about healthy lifestyles using the 5-2-1-0 message and motivational interviewing techniques. Through a collaboration between OU Children’s Physicians, the YMCA of Greater Oklahoma City, and funding from Oklahoma City-County Health Department and the Community Transformation Grant these materials are available for you to download and print here. The American Academy of Pediatrics providers located in Oklahoma County can also get colored copies from OU Children’s Physicians.
